School Spirit

One way to build school spirit is to get all the students to do something together. Pep rallies, sports and community service activities come to mind. Apparently, anything done together as a group meets this goal; the sillier the better.

At preschool, Ben's class is always having coordinated clothing days. Pajama Day, Wear Orange Day or, in this case, Hat Day. Of course, Ben can't just smile for a picture.

Hannah's elementary school had Crazy Hair Day. I figured, however I do her hair, it will look crazy. I wanted to start with a birthday hat, but we didn't have one the right size; so, I had to make a cone from scratch using a cardboard box.

Just in case cone-shaped hair wasn't "crazy" enough, we used as many hair clips as we could fit.

Hannah loved it and said her friends on the bus and at school loved it, too. Surprisingly, it was still in tact when she got off the bus that afternoon and she even wore it the same way to dance class.

How any of this build school spirit, I don't know. The kids had fun, though, which is really all that matters... that, and now we have more pictures to embarrass them with at graduations and weddings.
