Kennywood 2007

It was a very rainy day in West Mifflin; but to the people like us who don't cancel our Kennywood visit, that just means shorter lines. The tickets were free, dinner was free and it turned out that preferred parking was free. We knew we wouldn't be back in town before the end of the season, so if there was even a chance that the weather might break. After watching the giant green blob on the radar all day, I predicted that the rain would quit around dinner time - and I was right.

Hannah picked the first ride, "I want to go on the roller coaster." The only one she's tall enough to ride is the Jack Rabbit, which she rode last year. The experience was pretty much the same as last year except she sat with Pap this time.

She also got to accompany Ben on his first Kennywood ride - the "Space Ship," not to be confused with the "Helicopter" ride (alternating cars). We showed Ben the steering wheel, but he thought it was pretty silly to hold on to something that moved. For the first 3/4 of the ride, he preferred the stationary bar that ran around the outside.

We played one game before we left. We each threw a whiffle ball onto a table with a grid of holes. If the ball lands in a colored hole, you get a prize. The only winner was Ben, who got a small tiger to add to their zoo stuffed animal collection.

It turned out to be a great Kennywood trip; as if there is any other kind.
